Search Instructions
First, select one of our products: Bandwidth, Internet Access, Co-Location, Minutes, and Dark Fiber.
Make your search specific or general. You can use NY and LA as abbreviations for New York City and Los Angeles. If you don't find an existing offer for what you want to buy, post your own Bid to Buy what you want.
Our search engine will sort your results by speed of the circuit, price, posting date, and location. Sorting by Speed displays results from fast to slow or vice-versa in Million bits per second (Mbps). Sort the country, state or city from A-Z or Z-A. The two "Sort" menus sort results simultaneously based on both criteria. If your search did not display any results, try a more general search. You may not find connections from Pennsauken NJ to London, but you can find NJ to NY, and US to UK. 100 Mbps may be less expensive than a burstable DS3, so sort by price rather than specifying a speed. If you get too many results, narrow the search or search by price or post date. Prices have almost always moved down, so circuits recently posted are usually less expensive. Price is typically stated as a Monthly Recurring Charge (MRC) in US Dollars, except for Minutes (typically stated as a price in US Dollars per minute for wholesale quantities), and Dark Fiber and some other products sold as Indefeasible Rights of Use (IRUs) or 15-25 year leases. For Minutes, one should normally sort by lowest to highest Price, and Price is listed on the additional Information page. Registered users can see much more Information about each offer or bid by clicking on the "details" link in each result. If you are interested in what you see on the more information page, you can choose to agree to negociate in good faith for that product. By clicking on the "Agreed" button, our system will let us know that you are interested in the product, and we will get in touch with you. You may also request more information by filling out the form above. Bandwidth Market Registration is free and easy, and allows you to view detailed information about every post in our database. Registrants agree, online to a Non-Disclosure Agreement and a Compensation Agreement, which outlines our commission percentage fees (normally 4% for buyers, 9% for sellers, except for Minutes). Please take a moment to Register if you have not done so already. Internet Access, sometimes referred to as Internet Transit, is two-way access from one location to the Internet. Prices for Internet Access are displayed as a Monthly Recurring Charge (MRC), typically in US Dollars. For application services, web hosting, and related services, see Co-Location. Bandwidth, sometimes referred to as a Private Line, is a leased telecommunications point-to-point circuit connecting two locations, almost always duplex (bi-directional), except to some foreign countries where "half-circuits" may still be used. Frame relay can also connect in a point-to-point fashion at fractional T1 to DS3 speeds, as is listed here. Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) is also used to connect point-to-point circuits, sometimes offering different Quality of Service (QOS) such as Unspecified Bit Rate (UBR). Local loops constitute a large percentage of the total cost, so try searching within the same city (NY to NY), as well as across oceans. Price is typically stated as a Monthly Recurring Charge (MRC) in US Dollars. Non Recurring Charges (NRC) or installation charges may also be stated. Minutes are typically long distance voice communications, measured in minutes or fractions of minutes, and sold from a large area to the customer (1-800 service), from a customer to a large area (like the WATS services), from a Point of Presence (POP) to a large area (termination services), or from one POP to another. You may search for any one or two locations in the world, or for "VOIP" to designate any location that has Voice-Over-IP equipment. Prices are usually stated in US Dollars per minute for wholesale (e.g. Million Minutes per Month) quantities. Co-Location often accompanies use of other services, allowing placement of equipment in rented space. Often it can greatly reduce the costs of "local loops" (circuits connecting Central Offices or Internet access points to customers). Many of the circuits can be supplied with colocation at Bandwidth Market, and Co-Location providers often offer private lines or Internet Access. Bandwidth Market lists various Application Service Provider services with colocation. Dark fibers are fiber optic cables that have not yet been 'lit' by the equipment at each end that allows carriage of voice, data, or video traffic. Prices are sometimes stated as Monthly Recurring Charges, or sometimes as the amount, paid up front, for a 15-25 year Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) lease. |
