Bandwidth Market, Ltd. announced today sales of high speed
Internet access at $99 per megabit per second (Mbps) per month.
The prices are available in the largest US cities for users at the
100 Mbps and higher speeds.
"The prices for enterprises and large web users continue to
drop," said Howard Holme, President of Bandwidth Market, the
largest Internet based telecommunications brokerage in the world.
"Just two months ago, we announced monthly prices of $150/Mbps
for the DS3 speed of 45 Mbps. Now, we have broken the $100 barrier
for the popular enterprise circuits operating at 100 Mbps using
fast Ethernet," Holme continued. The service is available in
numerous locations, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago,
Washington, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Seattle, San
Francisco, San Diego, Miami, Philadelphia, Denver, Kansas City,
Orlando, and Tampa. These metropolitan areas make up about half of
the United States population.
"Businesses and Internet Service Providers continue to
increase their dependence on the Internet as they build ever larger
web sites, do more business on line with customers, use the
Internet to store and back up data, and move toward streaming
video," said Barbara Shaw, Vice President of Bandwidth Market.
The Internet continues to be the fastest growing telecommunications
segment. This reduction in Internet access prices makes Bandwidth
Market more important to carriers and large businesses."
Bandwidth Market has recently increased the number of intercity
and intracity (or local loop) fast Ethernet and Gigabit offerings,
stating lower prices connecting more than 15,000 location pairs at
speeds of 100, 200, 700 and 1000 Mbps. Intercity bandwidth is
available at 100 Mbps speed for $12,000 per month. "We also
have excellent intracity Ethernet offerings at even lower
prices," according to Holme. "Companies use Ethernet for
their Local Area Networks. Ethernet is often the carriers'
protocol within data centers or switching locations. Businesses
can save large amounts on switching equipment as well as bandwidth
costs by using these new services."
"Bandwidth Market lists more telecommunications offers for
Internet access, point to point private lines, collocation, dark
optical fiber and long distance voice minutes than any other web
site in the world," Shaw said. Bandwidth Market helps
companies buy, sell, and lease telecommunications services,
including Internet access, private communications lines from 1
Million bits per second (Mbps) to 10,000 Mbps, collocation
services, long distance minutes, and dark optical fiber,"
explained Holme. Bandwidth Market has hundreds of thousands of
products listed in 500 U.S. cities and 300 countries-"the most
telecom listings in the world," according to Holme. The site
uses a complex search engine to sort offers and bids by city or
country of origin or destination.
Earlier this year, Frost and Sullivan awarded Bandwidth Market,
Ltd. with the 2001 Internet
Marketing Strategy Leadership Award and concluded that "BandwidthMarket.com's
website provides a wealth of information to its service provider
sellers, and corporate and carrier buyers, and is effectively using
the Internet as a key marketing strategy that will continue to
drive company growth."
