Bandwidth Market announces a record-breaking low price for an OC48 national telecommunications network, $150,000 per month to connect 21 US cities.
This network is half the cost of an equivalent network just 3 months ago. Prices for bandwidth and internet access continue to drop, with internet access now available for $38 per megabit per second.

Bandwidth Market is selling national 14,000 mile telecom networks conveying 155 Megabits per second (Mbps) to 2,500,000,000 bits per second (2.5 Gbps) or OC48.
The 155 Mbps network costs less than $25,000 per month while the 2.5 Gbps network costs less than $300,000 per month. The $25,000 per month network runs as fast as AT&T's Internet network of 3 years ago, yet this network costs less than 1% of what it did then.

"Bandwidth Market, The Biggest Exchange" was the lead article in the most recent Capacity Price Tracker.
Capacity Price Tracker is a leading bandwidth newsletter, published by T Soja and Associates. "Bandwidth Market thinks it lists more offers for telecom prices than all other sites on the Internet combined ... Deregulation of telecommunications has brought on competition, but too often the competition is in the form of prolonged haggle bargaining based on secrecy of prices. ... Internet access, Ethernet, Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP), government purchases, assets coming out of bankruptcy, and big web sites are all current trends. ... Many network assets, both fiber and switches, went into bankruptcy and are now coming out with cost bases and debt ... only 1 to 5% of the earlier cost basis."

Bandwidth Market featured in the Bandwidth Desk as having the potential to be "the primary channel for bandwidth."
Scudder Publishing's the Bandwidth Desk of September 13, 2002, featured a long story about Bandwidth Market and an interview with its President Howard Holme. "While the bandwidth traders have receded in memory, their vision is largely proven at BandwidthMarket.com. . .Typing 'BandwidthMarket.com' into a search engine yields about 40,000 hits. Typing the name of a BandwidthMarket.com customer is likely to yield less than 1000 hits." Its "network of clients is growing according to Metcalf's law. . .and becomes more valuable to the enterprises buying as end-users and carriers."
